Aash Desai

Principal, Founder

Aash founded Helios Construction Services in 2008 with the vision to transform the inefficient construction process, Aash has over 15 years of experience in the Real Estate and Construction industry, having worked as a Project Manager and Preconstruction Manager for a Large Global Construction Management Firm, as well as the Vice President of Development for a National Real Estate Development firm.

Aash actively manages the overall business strategy and project direction for Helios. Aash’s experience with a variety of clients, including Fortune 500 companies, private developers, start-up businesses and Institutions allows him to serve as both a construction manager, as well as adviser for our Clients.  

Aash earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction at Bradley University as well as an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

In addition, Aash has served as a Mentor and on the Associate Board of Directors for the ACE Mentoring Program of Illinois, which promotes careers in architecture, construction and engineering to inner-city high school students, where he was honored with its inaugural Educational Leader award. Aash’s involvement in the local community coupled with his professional achievements has been recognized by Engineering News Record’s Top 20 Professionals Under 40.

Shane Potter

Director of Operations

Shane is the Director of Operations at Helios Construction Services. Shane provides overall project leadership and management for a wide variety of project types, including medical, retail, office and mixed use. Shane has over ten years of commercial construction experience in Chicago, Having been involved in the management of over $500M in completed construction projects and having provided preconstruction services for several other high profile projects. Shane's satisfied client base includes several of Chicago's premier health care organizations, private developers and owners of hospitality, higher education, corporate office and retail facilities.

Prior to joining Helios Construction Services, Shane served as a Project Manager for one of Chicago's largest construction contractors, where his project leadership skills contributed to the company's success over his tenure. Shane is a LEED® Accredited Professional and has obtained his American Society of Healthcare Engineers (ASHE) and OSHA 30-hour Certifications. Shane holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Dayton.


Jennifer Kotz

Senior Project Manager

Jenny, a Senior Project Manager, is responsible for the successful delivery of some of Helios’ most challenging projects. She specializes in high-level conceptual budgeting, design build, and project development and leads team members to facilitate concepts. One of Jenny’s greatest strengths is recognizing and cultivating the potential in others. At Helios, she mentors team members to create the next generation of leaders by providing direction and guidance on current projects.

With over fifteen years of experience in all facets of the construction industry, Jenny brings a variety of project experience to her clients. As a result, she has a strong history of repeat client relationships.

Jenny has a Bachelors of Science in Construction from Texas A&M University.  Prior to joining Helios, Jenny has held Project Manager and Office Engineer positions at construction firms in Texas and the Chicagoland area.

Tom Cichy

Senior Superintendent

As a Senior Superintendent at Helios Construction Services, Tom is responsible for the management of project field operations. Tom’s extensive background in construction enables him to provide outstanding direction to subcontractors by coordinating plans, specifications and schedules in order to ensure quality and on-time completion of work.

Prior to Helios, Tom had been an integral part of one the largest construction companies in Chicago where he served as a carpenter apprentice, journeyman, carpenter foreman and superintendent. Throughout his thirty-year career in the construction industry, Tom has overseen and consistently delivered several projects of different sizes, scopes and budgets.

Caitie Galley

Project Manager

As a LEED® Green Associate accredited professional, Caitie is involved in all aspects of project management including submittals, scheduling, cost control and closeout processes.

Prior to joining Helios, Caitie earned her Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana. She began her career in construction as a Project Engineer for infrastructure and environmentally focused construction projects. She also held a position as a construction consultant and advised on hospitality, manufacturing, retail and commercial projects.

Austin Darrell

Project Manager

Austin facilitates the relationship between the client and our contractors to ensure successful project completion. He manages and coordinates submittal, cost control, scheduling, reporting, and document control activities. He has worked on a wide range of commercial and institutional projects including healthcare, public works, education, department of defense, retail and hospitality.

Austin thrives in a fast-paced environment and has an impressive ability to stay calm under the pressure that comes with most construction projects.

Austin holds a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management from Bradley University as well as an Associate’s degree in Construction Technology from Morrison Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Helios, he worked as a Project Engineer at two National general contracting firms.

David Knab

Project Manager

David manages and coordinates submittal, cost control, scheduling, reporting and document control activities. A natural networker, David possesses effective communication and relationship skills that enable him to engage in all organizational levels to deliver high-quality service. He has a strong reputation for managing teams and delivering results.
David holds a degree in Construction Management from Ohio State University. Prior to joining Helios, he worked as an assistant project manager for a Chicago-based general contractor.

Scott Heguy

Project Engineer

Scott, a LEED® Accredited Professional, assists in project management and construction supervision efforts, manages and coordinates submittal, cost control, scheduling, reporting and document control activities. His thoroughness and attention to detail ensures that all aspects of a job are completed with the highest quality.

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from Purdue University and began his career as a quality control manager for a general contractor working on military bases around the country. Prior to Helios, Scott was an assistant project manager at a construction firm that operated on both a national and local scale.

Peter Lutz

Project Engineer

Peter, a LEED® Green Associate Accredited Professional, assists in project management and construction supervision efforts. He is involved in all aspects of project management including pre construction, value engineering, big award, submittals, cost control and closeout procedures. manages and coordinates submittal, cost control, scheduling, reporting and document control activities.

In addition to his role as Project Engineer, Peter serves as a Commissioned Officer in the Illinois National Guard. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Prior to joining Helios, Peter served as a Project Engineer and Assistant Project Manager for several multi-million dollar tenant interior buildouts on the North side of Chicago.

Kenya Tapia

Project Engineer

Kenya is responsible for submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and coordinating onsite coordination of trades and subcontractors. Kenya’s top priority is to ensure that the projects assigned to her run smoothly and safely.

Kenya holds a degree from DePaul University in Business Administration as well as International Business and French. Prior to Helios, Kenya worked as a Project Coordinator for a small General Contractor specializing in residential restoration and commercial cleaning services.

Nicholas Bobst

Project Engineer

Nicholas is a Project Engineer responsible for preconstruction and high-level budgeting work. He assists in project management and construction supervision efforts, manages and coordinates submittal, cost control, scheduling, reporting and document control activities.

Prior to joining Helios, he gained experience in municipal construction and urban planning at the Village of Lombard, Department of Public Works. Nicholas obtained his Civil & Environmental Engineering degree from the University of Iowa. In addition, he also earned a minor in Business Management and plans to pursue a graduate degree in that field.

Joshua Rostamo


As a Superintendent, Josh provides direction to subcontractors by coordinating plans, specifications and schedules to ensure quality and on-time completion of work. Formatting and executing plans in a professional manner is at the core of Josh’s work ethic. He holds the OSHA 30-hour certification and brings over ten years experience as a flooring installer and foreman.  

David Melchiorre


At Helios, David is responsible for providing direction to the subcontractors ensuring that they each complete their work in an efficient and precise manner.

Since earning an Industrial Technology degree from Illinois State University, David has accumulated an impressive array of skills throughout his career by managing charitable housing rehab projects and building committees.

Ed Greb


Ed began his career in the construction industry nearly twenty years ago when he served as a carpenter foreman at a nationally ranked commercial construction company. His experience includes a wide variety of construction trades.

In his superintendent role at Helios, Ed is responsible for scheduling subcontractors and ensuring that work is done correctly and efficiently.

Dean Siebert


Dean has over ten years experience supervising high priority jobs and managing large crews. At Helios, he provides direction to subcontractors by coordinating plans, specifications and schedules. His previous experience as a carpenter foreman enables him to provide expert insight to ensure high quality workmanship and on-time completion of projects.

Prior to Helios, Dean served as a Project Superintendent at a Chicago-based general contracting firm.

Chris Maric


As a superintendent, Chris is responsible for the onsite supervision and coordination of all job site activity. At the age of 14, Chris began running projects for his father. He has worn many hats - labor, foreman, finisher, operator, superintendent, owner, project engineer and project manager. Now with over 20 years experience, Chris has extensive knowledge in coordinating plans, schedules, and specifications with subcontractors to ensure that all work is completed on time and on budget. His expertise lies in anything concrete or structural related for all types of buildings.

Prior to joining Helios, Chris served as a  Superintendent at 2 National general contracting firms.

Martin Burke

Facilities Manager

Marty joined Helios is 2016 to help establish our service division. He is responsible for managing many construction and maintenance projects, ensuring that our clients needs are met for projects large and small, as well as providing maintenance services to ensure they look as good down the road as the day they are completed.

With over twenty five years of experience in the construction, operations, and maintenance industries, Marty has overseen various projects from $5 fan belt replacements to multi-million dollar masonry renovations.

Prior to joining Helios, Marty served as the Chief Engineer in the Operations Department of Chicago Public Schools.


During his time at Shields, Marty improved the overall condition of the school and the school’s infrastructure. Marty left Shields in better condition than when he first arrived. He did this for our students, staff and community.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri. Prior to joining Helios, Laura worked for several large real estate companies in Chicago in marketing, operations and administrative roles.

Erica Koger

Executive Assistant

As an Executive Assistant, Erica wears many hats. She manages expenses, balances the teams schedules, and assists with marketing initiatives. Known for her organization and communication skills, Erica ensures that management is fully aligned.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media from Valparaiso University and is currently pursuing a Masters in Marketing at DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.

Prior to joining Helios, Erica worked as a marketing assistant for The Lowe Group of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.

Morgan Van Cleave

Project Assistant

Morgan assists Project Managers and Project Engineers with various construction assignments. Morgan plays a critical role in the efficiency of every project she is responsible for. One of Morgan’s greatest strengths is her ability to streamline projects and adapt to changing priorities.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University, she served as an Office Manager for a veterinary hospital.

Morgan’s enthusiastic, prompt and focused work ethic ensures that long lasting relationships are maintained between Helios Construction Services, our clients, and our subcontractors.

Natnaree Brandt

Project Assistant

Nat assists Project Managers and Project Engineers with various construction assignments. Nat’s strong attention to detail and high energy enable her to effectively communicate between subcontractors and the project team.

Nat earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in History from University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to Helios, she worked as an Office Manager for a large general contractor.
