One Tail at a Time is a Chicago-based no-kill animal rescue that supports under-resourced animal shelters and pet families. With a progressive dog adoption program, One Tail at a Time rescues hundreds of animals each year from local and Southern shelters by rehabilitating, fostering, and finding adopters for each dog.
As part of the OTAT Cooperative capital campaign, Helios was contracted to renovate an existing dog boarding space to create a new in-house veterinary clinic. The opening of this fully staffed veterinary clinic is intended to reduce the cost of care and length of stay for animals taken in by the rescue. Work included complete replacement of electrical wiring, HVAC equipment, and piping. We installed new carpentry and cabinetry throughout the building, and local artists painted custom indoor and outdoor murals.
