In 2019, Switzerland’s foreign minister announced their decision to re-open a consulate in Chicago, a top destination for Swiss companies. Their new office bridges the gap between the east and west coast offices and is a direct contact for the 100 Swiss companies that create around 30,000 jobs in the greater Chicago area.
Helios completed the fit-out and interior renovation of the new Consulate General of Switzerland office in a notable downtown Chicago high-rise. Despite the extended lead times and international material supplier delays at the beginning of a worldwide pandemic, the project team successfully delivered a stunning product in the spring of 2020. Utilizing our 3D laser scanning technology, we helped coordinate and communicate the project progress to a team spread across two continents. Custom millwork, access controls/security infrastructure, a Maars living wall system, custom Italian terrazzo tile, precision-controlled HVAC system, leather upholstery, and marble countertops provide an elegant touch for a facility ready to serve for years to come.
This project was awarded the AIA Chicago’s Interior Architecture Award for 2021.
